1.10 Polar Bear
1.30 Wildcats and pine marten
1.45 Camels
2.15 Tigers

Monday 27th February - An Interactive ARTic Awareness
Be part of a polar bear mask portrait extravaganza! On February
27th, Glasgow artist, Lisa Jennings, brings her 'Masking Existence'
photographic portrait project to the Highland Wildlife Park.
The project focuses on the polar bear and it's relationship
with us as an animal whose existence is shaped by the increasing
melting and freezing turnover of ice sheets in the Arctic
Ocean.
The conservation work of wildlife organisations locally and
globally is discovering more about the ancestry of the polar
bear, and here in Scotland, bones dating back thousands of
years shed light on the movements of brown bears and polar
bears during the last Ice Age. Walker the polar bear is one
of a huge family of great bears to exist on our planet, and
in this photographic work, the focus is to capture moments
where humans and polar bear share the same place at the same
time, and both exist in the same environment.
Taking a range of portraits from individual to group shots,
Lisa is aiming to capture 100+ portraits of HWP visitors wearing
specially made polar bear masks in the setting of the Park
on February 27th, also known as 'International Polar Bear
Day' worldwide.
Come along and have your portrait taken wearing one of the
polar bear masks with the backdrop of the beautiful Highland
Wildlife Park and a view of Walker the polar bear and his
fellow animal kingdom neighbours. Find out more about how
your involvement helps generate awareness of polar bear conservation.
Following this event, a specially selected collection of these
portraits will then be exhibited in the main polar bear viewing
hut. For more info on Lisa, click
